Danny Faulkner Tells Us Where to Begin Our Study of the Cosmos
Prefers the ancient Greeks over the Bible concerning the shape of the earth
This meme is a light paraphrase from page 17 of “Falling Flat.”
Here’s the quote in full:
Much of Western science and philosophy traces back to the ancient Greeks. Therefore, if we want to know the history of cosmology, such as beliefs about the earth’s shape, we ought to start with them.
Seriously?
There is only one TRUE HISTORY and it is found in the Bible, starting with Genesis One. This is where we must start when building a foundation for anything, including the nature of the cosmos — or the real HISTORY of how it was formed.
Additionally, as Christians, we ought not be interested in the foundation of “Western” science. Rather, we must crave and go hard after God’s revealed truth. Western science and philosophy must bow to the Queen of Sciences and the King of this realm.
Ironically, Faulkner makes another gaffe here by making a claim that suggests he is NOT qualified to talk on this subject.
Faulkner even acknowledges that the ancient Greeks borrowed from ancient Egyptian and Babylonian cosmologies — which he admits held to a Flat Earth. 1
In the above meme, I quote Faulker word for word: “Earlier Greek cosmologies were probably flat earth, but we have no knowledge of them.” 2
This is such a glaring error that it puts Faulkner in a poor light. Either he is skewing the truth — or he is unqualified to speak on this topic.
Even wikipedia recognizes that the early Greeks upheld a flat, stationary earth. 3
Since history is easily rewritten, I’ve taken screenshots from Wikipedia to support my case.
And Homer wrote about it.
But there is more.
So much for Faulkner’s claim that we have no knowledge of the Early Ancient Greek’s understanding of a Flat Earth.

This is what befuddles me about Bible believing Christians. Proverbs 18:13 says it well—“to answer a matter before one hears it is folly.” The pastors preach against evolution, against big bang theory, and most even believe in a literal 6 days of creation and the young earth understanding of six thousand or so years since the creation. Yet, 99% of pastors still buy the globe lie, though nothing in the Bible speaks of a globe, sphere, ball shape earth or movement of the earth. Literally zilch! Yet an atheist scientist has more influence on a typical pastor’s teachings than THE MOST HIGH GOD, Creator of earth and The Spoken Word itself. Simply unacceptable for anyone to be in a church of such disregard for the truth found in YaH’s Word.
BELIEF about the earth’s shape? What? We don’t KNOW?
I find it hilarious to the point of maniacal that people don’t think about what they’re saying. Words have meaning.
People BELIEVE the earth is a shape yet that say it’s ROUND all the time. Rarely do they say a “ball, sphere, or globe.” Round is not exclusive to a sphere. Globers like Neil deGrasse Tyson know better, which is why he almost always says ROUND. If he said SPHERE specifically, he would have to verify how that sphericity was measured.
And to be fair… most flat earthers also say they BELIVE or THINK the earth is flat. Actually “flat” is not the best description of the terrain. Flat is also not a shape. It’s an aspect.
I KNOW the earth is a horizontal plane because that’s how we treat it, measure it, navigate it, fly over it, map it, build on it, and observe it.
